Wheelchair Basketball Canada: Team Canada set to tip-off at IWBF World Championships in June

Team Canada’s men’s and women’s Wheelchair Basketball teams will tip off at the IWBF World Championships, beginning Saturday, June 10, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre. The Top 12 women’s and 16 men’s teams will battle from June 9-20. The Canadian women will compete in the six-team Group B with Australia, Brazil, China, Spain and Great Britain. On the men’s side, Canada will play in Group B against Thailand, Egypt and Germany.“The World Championships is a chance for our men’s and women’s programs to build off last summer’s solid showing in Brazil at the Americas Cup,” said Jeff Dunbrack, High Performance Director, Wheelchair Basketball Canada. “Both teams are ready and prepared to compete against the best in the world in Dubai.”The Senior Women’s National Team opens the preliminary round against Brazil at 1:45 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 10. The women then tip off against Spain on Monday, June 12, at 11:00 a.m. ET before facing Great Britain at 8:30 a.m. ET on Tuesday, June 13. Canada then faces Australia at 8:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, June 14, before wrapping up the preliminary round against China at 2:00 a.m. on Friday, June 16.The Canadian Men’s Team begins the preliminary round against Germany on Saturday, June 10, at 6:15 a.m. ET before meeting Thailand at 10:45 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 11.
