The top junior Wheelchair Basketball athletes in Canada will participate in the Junior National Championship at the Chi-Wan Young Sports Centre on the University of Prince Edward Island campus in Charlottetown from June 10-12, 2022.www.wheelchairbasketball.ca. What: 2022 Junior National Wheelchair Basketball Championship
The competition will act as a seeding tournament and test event for the 2023 Canada Games in P.E.I. (Feb.18-Mar. 5, 2023). Athletes representing Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Saskatchewan will compete in the three-day tournament. “We are excited to have the top junior athletes showcase their talent in P.E.I. at the Junior National Championship,” said Wendy Gittens, Wheelchair Basketball Canada Executive Director. “This tournament, which will be a preview of what’s to come at the 2023 Canada Games, will feature future talent for both our men’s and women’s national teams.” Fans and media are invited to attend the tournament. Media can capture visuals during the games, and athletes and coaches will be available for post-game interviews. The gold medal game will take place on June 12 at 11 a.m. ADT.
