The women’s final at the 2019 Lima Para Pan Am Games has just wrapped up, check out what Canada’s Arinn Young and USA’s Rose Hollermann had to say to Dylan Cummings about the tournament.
How has Lima been as a tournament?
Arinn: “Lima has been great for us. Canada came in with two goals, to qualify for Tokyo and to win in the final. We came here for business and that’s what we did. I’m just so happy and proud with what these group of woman did. We stuck together as a team and it really showed. We are putting Canada back on the map and that’s a really exciting thing for us.”
Rose: “It’s been a great experience altogether. The food has been amazing and the culture has been just as incredible. We worked hard all summer and fought even harder during this tournament. More than anything the team worked together and for each other during every single game.”
How is the team mood currently?
Rose: “The team is definitely feeling rough. Our mood is down but we are still sticking together. The most beautiful thing in sports is being apart of a team that lost but still leans on each other.”
Arinn: “So many awesome emotions. Most importantly we are proud of ourselves and the staff. We feel like a whole new team since worlds, stronger, and faster. We are very happy and proud of our performance.”
What does it mean to you to be a part of Team Canada/USA?
Arinn: “It means the world to represent my country. I get to represent something that’s bigger then me and its amazing. It’s an honor just to put the maple leaf on our chest, obviously we will do anything in our power to wear it with pride.”
Rose: “Team USA has always been extremely special for me. I grew up on this team because I made my first one when I was so young. So this team really has become my family.”
Thanks for your time.
